Make and Mend Starry Geometric Scarf Kit
To celebrate the one year anniversary of my book, Make and Mend, I've designed a series of deluxe kits based around book projects. This kit is a companion to the Geometric Starry Scarf project (p. 81-85) and includes all the materials you'll need to make your own sashiko stitched scarf. Use the instructions from Make and Mend book to create this project. You can also add-on a book with the purchase of this kit!*
This double sided scarf is such a fun & satisfying project to stitch up. It features one of my favorite patterns, the Hemp Leaf, in an enlarged scale- so it really shines! You will receive a PDF download of the pattern with purchase. The pattern spans about 14", so it needs to be tile printed. Once assembled you can easily trace the pattern, or use the step-by-step instructions in Make and Mend to draw the pattern by hand.
The fabric is thoughtfully sourced and in very limited quantities. The pink and gray option is organic cotton jersey fabric and remnants from the actual sample made for the book. I only have two kits in this color way. There are only seven kits of the navy and cream cotton jersey, which is from a local textile recycler. Once these are gone that's it!
+ (2) 15 x 60 inch cotton jersey fabric pieces. Two color ways: soft pink + gray, cream + navy
+ (2) Daruma 100% cotton sashiko thread, gray
+ Olympus Sashiko needles
+ Water Soluble Pen
+ Curved Quilters Saftey Pins
+ 12 inch Ruler
+ PDF download of pattern with instructions for tile printing
*Please Note: This kit is a companion to Make and Mend book, so no project instructions are included.
